About Bonnie Blevins
Army Veteran, Mom, and Author
While growing up in the small Virginia town of Culpeper, Bonnie Blevin’s aspirations were anything but small. By day, she was an active part of her community and spent much of her time volunteering at a horseback riding center for disabled children. By night, she dreamed of one day having the honor to serve her country.
With a drive and determination as strong as an ox and a passion for helping people that was unwavering, Bonnie dug her boots into her future and enlisted in the U.S. Army as a military police officer at the ripe age of seventeen. However, unbeknownst to her, this new chapter would not only mark the most thrilling time of her life, but also a time of tremendous growth, sacrifice and self-prevailing as she navigated being a young woman in the military.
Over the course of her active duty, Bonnie often found herself writing random scenes and short stories on any scrap paper she could find – including on the back of police reports. While none of them were really connected, Bonnie found it cathartic to get her creative thoughts down on paper in such a rugged atmosphere. Fast forward a few years and an unexpected hip injury would force Bonnie to end her active duty sooner than she thought. It wasn’t until she was back home in Virginia that she rediscovered her collection of storylines and decided she’d embark on her next challenge, becoming a self-published author.
Originally entitled ‘Timewaster’, Bonnie’s first novel was a labor of love and not one she intended to share. Completed over a ten-year period as her passion for writing was reignited, it was Bonnie’s friends and family that pushed her to publish. Now in its second edition, ‘Virgil Team’ is a military, sci-fi, romance that follows Kia, who is a miliary police officer and inspired by Bonnie’s own thoughts on “If she could do this” throughout her military career, as she navigates getting thrust into a new shadowy world that surrounds a new U.S. military organization while trying to protect her own special powers.
When she’s not writing her next series, Bonnie enjoys hiking, horseback riding, playing video games, creating polymer clay artwork (that she often gives away with her books at in person book events) and going on weekend adventures with my family, which could mean anything from Ikea runs to museums.
